         World Amateur K-1 Rules 

 

Below are Rules and Regulations of the World Amateur K-1  Federation:

 

The Rules and Regulations presented hereafter are in accordance with the current rules and regulations of the World Amateurs K-1 Federation (WAK-1F).

 

Qualifications of the Contestants

 

A Contestant in the Senior Division must be at least 19 years old, but not more than 40 years old.

A Contestant in the Junior Division must be at least 15 years old, but not more than 18 years old, minimum weight 40kg (*The Junior Division spans a total of 4 years of a boxer's life; from his/her 15th birthday until his/her 19th birthday).

 

Divisions of the Competition

 

Note: If there are less than 3 contestants in any division, the competition will not be held for that weight division.

 

Male weight categories over 19

 

(weight categories under -81kg - 10OZ., over 81kg – 12OZ.)

Light bantam -51 kg

Bantam weight -54 kg

Feather weight -57 kg

Light weight -60 kg

Light welter-weight -63.5 kg

Welter weight -67 kg

Light middle-weight -71 kg

Middle weight -76 kg

Light heavy weight -81 kg

Cruiser weight -86 kg

Heavy weight -91 kg

Super heavy weight +91 kg

 

Female weight categories over 19

 

(all weight categories – 10OZ.)

Bantam weight - 48 kg

Feather weight - 52 kg

Light weight  - 56 kg

Middle weight - 60 kg

Light heavy weight - 65 kg

Heavy weight - 70 kg

Super heavy + 70 kg

 

Younger juniors – Male 15-16/ 17-18 years old

 

(weight categories under -80kg - 10OZ., over 85kg – 12OZ.)

Light bantam -48 kg

Bantam weight -51 kg

Feather weight -54 kg

Light weight -57 kg

Light welter-weight -60 kg

Welter weight -63 kg

Light middle-weight -66 kg

Middle weight -70 kg

Light heavy weight -75 kg

Cruiser weight - 80kg

Heavy weight -85 kg

Super heavy weight +85 kg

Participants

 

National teams of all countries are invited to participate at the championships.

Each country is allowed to send only one national team to participate in the championships.

Each team is allowed to send only one contestant for each weight category of each division (male, female, junior).

 

Team Delegates

 

Each team should consist of:

1 Team Manager, Coach/es, Referee/s, Contestants

 

Medical Check-up and Weigh-in

 

All contestants must bring with them the Original Medical certificates confirming, that they can participate in this event.

All contestants must have a Medical Check-up and Official Weigh-in on the opening day of the Championships outlined in the technical handbook. Each contestant must then have a Medical Check-up and Weigh-in in the morning of their competition for each bout. Boxers Record Book (Membership Books) must be presented at every Medical Check-up. The official Boxers Records Books will be issued by WAK-1F.

 

Changing Weight Divisions

 

On the morning of the official weigh-in, if a contestant finds his/her weight above the previous declared weight, he/she is permitted to move up to a higher weight division.

 

Drawing of Names

 

The Draw will be carried out after the Medical Check Certificates registration, National Teams registration on the 10th May. During this, the team manager or coach or a selected representative from each country must be present.

 

Appearance of Contestant

 

A contestant must wear shorts and a sleeveless shirt in red or blue, according to his corner. The contestant must wear the standard groin-guard, gum-shield, head-guard, bodyguard (female and juniors only), shin-guard as provided by the Organizing Committee, except gum-shields and groin-guards (gum-shields and groin-guards contestant has to have his own). No others may be substituted. Toenails must be short.

Every athlete is required to wear the official shorts and t-shirt of the games, which will be supplied for sale by WAK-1F.

 

Hand Wraps

 

Contestants must use the wraps provided by the Organizing Committee.

 

Timing of Rounds

 

The tournament will be run using 3 rounds of 2 minutes each with a 1-minute rest in between. The same rules will apply for the Finals.

 

Competition Conduct

 

All contestants must behave properly – as a good sportsman and follow the rules and regulations as laid out. Contestants will be penalized for any violations.

 

Ringside Doctor

 

There shall always be a doctor ringside. One doctor will be appointed as Chairman.

 

Appealing Decisions

 

All appeals should be in accordance with the rules of the WAK-1F for international tournaments and competitions.

 

Awards and Prizes

 

In each division, the winner of the Final bout will be the Champion and awarded with the Gold medal. The other finalist will receive the Silver medal and 2 Bronze medals will be awarded to the 2 semi-finalists. The team with the highest points total will receive the European Cup Trophy. An outstanding contestant will receive an Honour Trophy. The contestant who performs the most technical fight will receive an Honour Trophy.

 

Venue and Date

 

Has to be coordinated with WAK-1F at least 30 days in advance.
